2011 Elmhurst Public Library Kids' Summer Reading Program
What is Summer Reading?
Summer is here! And so are the library’s summer reading clubs. Children ages 1 through 8th grade are invited to be our guests this summer by joining the One World, Many Stories program. The library is bursting with creativity, programs, prize drawings, storytimes and so much more!
Registration starts on Saturday, June 4 and continues until August 13. Everyone who registers will receive a booklog to record their reading, a plastic book bag and a bookmark. Prizes will be awarded throughout the summer as readers reach various reading levels, and everyone who completes the program will receive a free paperback book.
Who Can Join?
Everyone who lives in Elmhurst, has an Elmhurst Public Library card, or attends an Elmhurst school(K-8) is welcome to participate.
Where do I sign up and pick up my prizes?
Beginning Saturday, June 4, children ages 1 through 8th grade can register at The Bazaar in the Kids’ Library. You’ll receive a booklog to record your reading, a bookmark and a plastic book bag. In each booklog, you'll find a list of all the prizes you can earn!
Beginning June 11, you can pick up your prizes either as you earn them or all at once when you complete the program.
What should I read?
Anything you'd like! But if you need some suggestions, here's a few:
What activities can my child participate in?
There are tons! From a World's Fair to Mehndi to Music, there's something for every kid in Elmhurst! There are so many Summer Reading programs, we had to send out a special edition of Fine Print. It landed in your mailboxes in late May, but if you need another look at it, the library has extra copies or you can view it online.
